DR KAISHA (BROWN) HEEMSKERK
Dr. Kaisha is originally from Spirit Lake, Iowa. Her passion for dentistry was sparked while attending the University of Northern Colorado. Dr. Kaisha played basketball for the UNC Bears, earning All-Big Sky Conference and All-Academic honors during her athletic career. (Fun Fact – she scored her 1,000th career point in her final game for the Bears!)
Dr. Kaisha returned to Iowa to attend dental school at the University of Iowa. Graduating in 2016, she received the Academy of General Dentistry Student of the Year Award her fourth year. In March 2017, Dr. Kaisha founded Waukee Dental. Her goal is to make every patient feel comfortable and at home while providing exceptional dental care. She enjoys being a leader in the dental community. Currently serving on the Des Moines Dental District Committee and the Iowa Dental Association New Dentist Committee. Dr. Kaisha remains committed to staying on the cutting edge of dental treatment as a member of a Spear Dental Study Club. Dr. Heemskerk’s dental and leadership experience, awards, distinctions and volunteer efforts are a true reflection of her drive to provide you with the very best dental care possible.
In her spare time, she enjoys spending time with her husband, Brent, and dog, Kemba. The Heemskerks enjoy traveling, watching basketball, and spending time with friends and family.

Dr. Brown is very knowledgeable and I love how she emphasizes education to her patients! This place is also very kid-friendly which was a nice bonus! I would recommend anyone looking for a dentist in the Waukee/Des Moines Metro to check this place out!

I love this dental practice! I’ve seen two of the dentists and was very happy with both of them. (Dr. Kim and Dr. Kaisha) It’s a beautiful, modern facility and staff have always been friendly and accommodating. Dr. Kim even saved me from getting a crown that was not needed, but recommended by my previous dentist! And, I’ve always been seen in a timely manner. I highly recommend Waukee Dental if you’re looking for dental care in the WDM or Waukee area.
Sadly, my daughter and I won’t return here. I’ve been a patient for years. My daughter’s last appointment the receptionist was so rude and chastised me in front of my daughter for being a few minutes late due to attempting to console my autistic son in the parking lot. I tried to explain and was told in the future they’ll just cancel my appointment. Then 1 week later I went in for a replacement crown and they schedule it back to back with a cleaning so with my jaw open for hours without rest, I was in pain for over 1 month following the appointment. When I explained this to the dentist they told me I must grind my teeth in my sleep. I’m 50 yrs old and have never grinded my teeth and have no dental signs that I ever did. It took weeks for the replacement crown to be made so I had to go back to get it glued in. I again, explained the pain I was in and how I couldn’t open my jaw all the way yet. And they again tried to blame me. I’ll never return and hope they learn that patients need to rest their jaw when in a chair for multiple exams for over 2hours in 1 day. And their receptionist is truly rude.
I’ve been a patient since 2018 and will no longer continue with care at this dental office.
They used to be great, friendly, welcoming. Inviting and knowledgeable. But that has since faded especially since they moved to their larger building. I had a routine visit, wasn’t offered glasses of course I want to wear my expensive prescription ones while getting my teeth cleaned. No warm welcome, no offering of turning on the TV ect also this visit had to be rescheduled multiple times as they kept canceling on me.
I sat in completely awkward silence. There was no narrarations about what the dental assistant was doing to my teeth.
Not to mention 2 years ago while pregnant they refused to do a crown on a tooth due to the pregnancy which they could of. Instead it was always “we’ll just watch it” eventually I was left in excruciating pain and needed a root canal before a crown could be placed.
In hind sight I found an amazing dentist at the emergency dental clinic who fixed my tooth that Waukee dental wouldn’t.
Of course Waukee dental wanted the referral to the endo and more money to come back to fix said tooth.
I’m over them find some where better and not just making up non sense!!
Very nice facility, and great staff. Erica does a very quick and thorough job of cleaning my teeth, and gives me great advice for continued success in keeping my teeth nice. I would definitely recommend Waukee Dental for anyone looking or not happy with their current dentist.
I highly recommend this dental office! Beautiful building, very clean and inviting. Your receptionists are so friendly, welcoming and kind. My hygienist Cara is the best! She does an amazing job. Friendly, caring and does an exceptional job cleaning my teeth!

The Waukee Dental Office uses an emergency messaging system after hours so Dr. Brown is always reachable. When you call, please give us as much information as possible so we can be ready to help you out when you arrive.
The information we need includes;
- Which teeth or tooth is bothering you
- Whether there was trauma or recent damage to the area
- How long it has been going on
Even if you are nervous about calling us because you do not think it is too serious, we would rather talk to you and come up with a plan. Tooth pain can go from mild to serious in a hurry.
